Areas of Focus
With God's leading, and with the key global trends in view, the founders of First Fruit have selected the following areas of focus for the foundation's giving:
A. Holistic Ministry (justice & mercy)
We care about all forms of human suffering and believe in responsible stewardship of our environment. We work with NGOs and FBOs that recognize and engage faith communities to be agents of transformation within their own regions. We support a wide range of programs focused on alleviating poverty and fighting injustices.
B. Leadership Development
In order to see community transformation occur, Christian leaders in the developing world must overcome enormously complex and daunting challenges. We want to come alongside them with the best and most contextualized resources available. The content should be highly relevant - e.g., how to develop ministry skills, effectively lead organizations, manage people, put systems in place, deepen in their areas of expertise, and grow in their character and spiritual life. The delivery mode could be formal (e.g., degree programs), nonformal (e.g., church-based) or informal (e.g., mentorship-based). The context of leadership could be rural or urban, grassroots or multi-national, church-based or in the marketplace or social/public sector.
C. Reaching the Less and Least Reached
We believe that the Church living out the whole gospel in word and deed is the hope of the world. The eternal mandate of presenting the gospel and making disciples cannot be lost, even if entailing great risk and cost, but it should be done in loving and culturally appropriate ways. We support creative initiatives to demonstrate and proclaim the love of Christ to communities that have little or no Christian witness. We encourage efforts to regularly gather together seekers and followers of Jesus - in church buildings, in house fellowships, even in online chat rooms - wherever the situation dictates.
